Welcome to Golda Meir House!

Golda Meir House is a wonderful, non-sectarian, senior independent living community, offering rental housing, owned and managed by JCHE. It is located at 160 Stanton Avenue in the Auburndale neighborhood of Newton MA, a short walk from the MBTA’s Woodland Station and Newton Wellesley Hospital.

Like all JCHE properties, Golda Meir House is welcoming to older adults of all backgrounds. It is a vibrant and supportive community. Residents enjoy fully equipped apartments with full kitchens, as well as attractive and inviting common space, courtyards and grounds. Golda Meir House offers social, cultural and recreational programs that facilitate healthy aging. The building has a Kosher kitchen and a five-day-per-week dining program. Golda is a community where residents enjoy life-long pursuits and cultivate new interests. At Golda Meir House, residents can strike a balance between enjoying activity with neighbors and savoring time alone in the peacefulness of their apartments.

Golda Meir House has 199 apartments: 176 are available to those 62 and older with income levels that meet HUD guidelines for subsidized housing. The remaining 23 units are available for people aged 62 and older whose income levels exceed these guidelines.

Our Staff

Myra Marshall, Executive Director for Golda Meir House

Myra Marshall joined JCHE Golda Meir House in June, 2013, bringing her passion for working with older adults, and strong commitment to building a warm, engaging and caring community that supports successful aging.  Myra values a collaborative, team oriented work environment.  With her participative style of management she encourages proactive communication and problem-solving across departments, with the goal of continuous improvement.

Myra’s diverse background includes corporate compensation management for an international Fortune 500 company, and successful grassroots advocacy on behalf of children on the autism spectrum in public education. As a consultant and advocate for disabled adults and their families, she developed a special affinity for working with the elderly; including those with Alzheimer’s disease.  This led to her career in independent and assisted living.  Prior to joining JCHE, Myra served as programming director for Brightview Senior Living and activities coordinator for LCB Senior Living.

Myra earned her Bachelor’s degree in communications from Southern Connecticut State University. When not at Golda Meir House, Myra enjoys baking, reading, folk music, volunteering, and spending time with friends and family.  

Blaire Melius, Acting Resident Services Director

Blaire joined JCHE in 2015 and is responsible for providing support to residents and their families as they age in community. Blaire also serves as a liaison to local government agencies and develops resident policies and community initiatives. Prior to working at Golda Meir House, Blaire interned at Center Communities of Brookline and the Brookline Council on Aging. Blaire has her MSW from Boston College and is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker. When not at work, you can find Blaire spending time with family and friends, going for walks, and exploring Boston.

Rebecca Cohen, Resident Services Coordinator

Rebecca joined the Golda Meir House Staff in 2018. She collaborates with Blaire to assist residents and their families with a range of issues to make life more mangeable and enjoyable. Rebecca has her MSW from Simmons. Before Golda Meir House, Rebecca intered at UMass Memorial Medical Center and also worked at Jewish Family & Children's Service, in their Basic Needs programs and Adoption program. Outside of work, you will likely find Rebecca spending time with her family, gardening, and doing arts and crafts projects.

Diane Metzger, Group Services Coordinator

Diane joined JCHE in 2018 and is responsible for planning special events, organizing entertainment, and providing cultural and educational opportunities for residents. Diane loves to practice yoga, travel, go to the theater, and garden in her spare time.
