Joyful Connections Participants Design Kiddush Cups

Posted: March 24, 2017

Since 1998, thanks to a generous gift from the Citizens Charitable Foundation, Brighton's Resident Display Case has featured our residents' artwork.

Currently on display are Kiddush Cups designed by residents who participate in our Joyful Connections! program--JCHE’s social drop-in club for residents with memory loss.

Kiddush, or "sanctification", is a blessing recited over wine or grape juice to sanctify the Shabbat and Jewish holidays.

JCHE founded Joyful Connections! because people with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias often need places to go and things to do to keep their minds active, keep them engaged with other people, and participate in activities that highlight their remaining skills and abilities. Most of all, they need to feel positive emotion.
