2Life Communities Names Andrew Goshert as Deputy Chief at Nahanton Campus
2Life Communities announced that accomplished senior living management professional Andrew Goshert has joined the organization to serve as Deputy Chief, Nahanton Campus in Newton, Massachusetts. Goshert is responsible for integrating and managing two important 2Life buildings on one campus: 144 existing affordable apartments at Coleman House and 174 moderate-income apartments in a development called Opus Newton. Opus from 2Life is a new prototype that puts living in community within reach for more older adults. Goshert will lead the official opening of Opus Newton, which is set to take place in 2025.
Goshert comes to 2Life from LCB Senior Living, an assisted living and memory care provider in the Northeast, where he served as senior executive director responsible for community operations. In 2023, he was the recipient of the organization’s Exemplary Leadership Award. Prior to that, Goshert was director of continuing care at Brooksby Village, a 1,400-apartment senior living community in Peabody, Massachusetts. He began his career at Dunwoody Village in Pennsylvania as admissions director, responsible for the development of a short-term rehab program for residents in need of post-acute care.
“Opus Newton is the first of its kind for both 2Life and the senior living market nationally,” said Amy Schectman, CEO of 2Life Communities. “The oversight of this transformative prototype, as well as its integration with Coleman House, requires dedicated and experienced leadership. We could not be more enthusiastic about Andrew, who brings his unique perspective as both a longtime senior living community executive director and a sales and marketing leader to 2Life.”
Opus Newton is the first development of Opus by 2Life, an innovative middle-market housing option that seeks to address the “middle-market abyss,” the number of middle-income seniors predicted to reach 16 million by 2033. Nearly 75% of these older adults, around 11.5 million people, will struggle to afford the cost of housing and healthcare. This group, termed "the forgotten middle," is too wealthy to qualify for affordable housing but not comfortable with the high-end options in the marketplace. Opus offers a new prototype that seeks to fill this void. Demand for this model is evident, as 95% of the apartments were pre-sold as of Opus Newton's groundbreaking in March of 2023, and all remaining apartments have since been reserved. Opus Newton leverages residents’ home equity to keep monthly fees as low as possible, and offers care navigation and smaller increments of care to make supportive services more accessible and affordable to residents in their apartments.
Coleman House is one of 2Life’s growing portfolio of affordable housing communities across Eastern Massachusetts, and provides 144 accessible and recently renovated apartments for older adults. The integration of Opus Newton with Coleman House will be paramount to Goshert’s role as part of the organization’s dedication to living in community. The incredible health benefits of aging in community have been recognized as vital to longevity and a sense of purpose and wellbeing.
Located next to the Jewish Community Center of Greater Boston, residents of both communities have access to the JCC amenities as well as the vibrant surrounding neighborhood and nearby parks and recreational areas. 2Life’s aging in community model combines thoughtful and community-driven programming, genuine relationships between residents and staff, and intentional design to ensure seniors have the opportunity to live with purpose and connection in a vibrant and enriching environment.
Goshert was born and raised in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, moving to Wakefield, Massachusetts in 2016. He holds a Bachelor of Science in health policy and administration from Pennsylvania State University, an MBA from Boston University’s Questrom School of Business, and is a licensed Nursing Home Administrator. He and his wife have two sons and a dog named Oliver. Outside of work, Goshert enjoys exploring the outdoors and golfing.
