Pursuing Excellence: 2Life honored with multiple awards

2Life Communities is receiving recognition for our work in multiple arenas. From human resources to leadership to volunteers, others are
realizing what we already know: 2Life is an exceptional organization. These recent awards are only possible because of the unified teamwork of many people, and we thank each and every one for making our mission possible.

• 2Life Communities was named a Boston Globe “Top Place to Work” in 2021, an award that recognizes the most admired workplaces in the state as voted on by employees.

• 2Life President and CEO Amy Schectman received the McKnight’s Women of Distinction honor, a joint program of McKnight’s Long-Term Care News, McKnight’s Senior Living, and McKnight’s Home Care. The program recognizes women who have made significant contributions to the senior living, skilled nursing, or home care professions.

• 2Life Communities earned Service Enterprise certification from Points of Light, signifying that we have the capability and management expertise to strategically use volunteers to improve the performance of our organization.

• Our new corporate offices were the subject of the IDEAS2 Award from the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC), the steel industry's top design honor.

Expanding our reach, serving more

2Life is on track to double the number of subsidized apartments we offer by 2030 and create our first community for middle-income seniors. Most recently, we added a new community, Shirley Meadows in Shirley, Mass. Projects currently in development include:

• J.J. Carroll House redevelopment in Brighton, Mass., which will include a brand-new, purpose-built PACE Center, publicly accessible open space and intergenerational play space;

• Leland House in Waltham, Mass., which will create 68 affordable apartments in a new three-story building located adjacent to the Waltham Senior Center;

• 500 Lynnfield Street in Lynn, Mass., a redevelopment of the former Union Hospital, which will include 150 affordable apartments, an on-site PACE Center, public green spaces, and intergenerational play areas; and

• Golda Meir House expansion in Newton (Auburndale), Mass., which will add 68 new apartments that will be affordable for senior adults with a range of incomes, including nine apartments that will be designated for chronically homeless individuals.

Reservations begin for Opus middle-income community

There’s much activity to report from Opus, 2Life’s innovative new senior living community for middle-income adults. Over the winter, hundreds of people signed up for the Opus Priority Program in anticipation of making apartment reservations this spring. Beginning in May, Priority Program members will have an opportunity to visit the new Opus information center to select their Opus apartment. For more information about Opus, visit 2LifeOpus.org.
